Sunshine City Scare is looking for good volunteers! We have three types of volunteer roles that include Con Volunteer, Horror Volunteer, and Voice Actor Handler Volunteer (more on each role below). And we’re offering some very nice volunteer benefits. Here’s our 4 Reasons to Volunteer at Sunshine City Scare.
Sunshine City Scare will have three food trucks each day. As a volunteer, you receive 1 free lunch at the food truck of your choice on the day you’re helping.
Each volunteer gets invited to the private party for celebrity guests (voice actors, live-action actors, cosplayers) on Saturday night. Food is provided. Note that each volunteer receives only 1 invite, which does not include a plus-1 (strictly enforced).
Volunteer one day, get one free weekend pass. Volunteer both days, and receive one free weekend pass for a friend.
Sunshine City Scare volunteers are not only allowed to cosplay, we encourage it! The costume must allow the volunteer to fulfill duties (nothing too big or bulky). And we welcome those volunteers who don’t want to cosplay as well.
A convention volunteer helps with a range of responsibilities from checking wristbands to helping at the cosplay repair station- and experience is nice, but not necessary. An additional volunteer role needed is checking bags, which requires experience.
We want horror volunteers, which includes those who have experience in horror theater or as a scare actor as well as horror cosplayers willing to pose.
A handler assists the voice actor in their booth by greeting and welcoming fans as well as providing a price list for autographs, photos and merch. Experience in retail, fast-food, and other customer service jobs is great, but certainly not necessary (we train lots of first-timers). And you get to hangout with a voice actor all day!
