Casper Van Dien known for cult classic horror movies to appear at Sunshine City Scare 2023

Actor Casper Van Dien who is known for his characters in cult classic movies is appearing at Sunshine City Scare 2023 on May 13-14 at the Coliseum and surrounding areas in downtown St. Petersburg. The horror cult classics he has appeared include Sleepy Hollow, a Tim Burton film starring Johnny Depp, as well as vampires movies like Modern Vampires and Dracula 3000. (not to mention the sci-fi/action/horror classic Starship Troopers).

#1 sleepy hollow

Sleepy Hollow is a gothic supernatural thriller also starring Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci, In the Tim Burton movie, Van Dien plays Brom Van Brunt. And the video shows one of the best scenes from the movie, which includes Van Dien’s performance.

#2 modern vampires

Van Dien plays Dallas, a vampire who continuously bites people without permission from The Count, which is forbidden. Modern Vampires also features some significant acting talent such as Rod Steiger, Kim Cattrall, Natasha Lyonne, and Craig Ferguson.

#3 dracula 3000

Van Dien portrays Captain Abraham Van Helsing in the made-for-TV movie that also featured former Baywatch star Erika Eleniak. The film’s plot focuses on Count Dracula in the futuristic setting of outer space in the 30th century. Despite its title, the Dracula 3000 is not a sequel to Dracula 2000.

#4 starship troopers

Last but certainly not least is Starship Troopers. We placed it last because it is more sci-fi and action than horror — but the bugs definitely count as horror!

How will a cute and adorable maid cafe transform into scary and creepy? Miria Maid Cafe, Orlando’s only stand-along maid cafe, will add horror to everything they do at Sunshine City Scare from desserts and games to dancing and performances. And the group, which will be at the con both days, will also be performing on the main stage.

Monster High creator Garrett Sander is making his first convention trip to Florida at Sunshine City Scare 2023! And in a huge announcement, Sander will be signing Monster High dolls FOR FREE at Sunshine City Scare both days. Attendees can bring their own Monster High dolls, or purchase the dolls from a choice of several vendors that will be stocked up.

Contests and programming

This first-of-its-kind horror con will also feature five contests with a total of $1,500 in cash prizes. There will be two cosplay contests (Craftsmanship on Saturday and Runway on Sunday), as well as a lip sync contest, a fan art competition, and a Tiktok film festival. In all, Sunshine City Scare will feature more than 25 hours of panels and programming.
